
Felix Balmer studied English, Spanish and Geman at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen and at Universitat de València. His interests in language in general and phonetics and phonology in particulary arose during a stay in Auckland, New Zealand. He is particularly interested in processes of speech perception, especially the role of mishearings in processing connected speech. Since 2008, he is writing is dissertation with the (working) title "Phonetic Ambiguity: Processing Mishearings" within the colloquium "Dimensionen der Ambiguität" ("Dimensions of Ambiguity"). It is an elaboration of his thesis statement "Phonetic, Phonological and Prosodic Triggers for Monegreens" that was awarded the "Tübinger Fakultätspreis Sprachwissenschaft 2007" (Faculty's Price of Linguistics 2007) by Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen.
Felix Balmer is also teacher for Spanish grammar and translation at Europa-Institut in Reutlingen.
